About Fluid Components International

FCI (Fluid Components International) is a designer, manufacturer, and purveyor of flow meters, flow switches, level switches, and more. The company offers switches for liquid, air, and gas applications in industrial processes and plant operations, as well as level and fluid switches for industrial process measurement and automation applications.

FCI was founded in 1964 in Canoga Park, California, by two engineers. The company initially specialized in oil field flow detection, developing thermal flow switches that could detect low flow rates in stripper wells. During the 1970s, the company followed this up with flow-rate and liquid-level switches and transmitters, and pioneered the development of thermal dispersion mass air/gas flow meters. In 1978, FCI also opened its nuclear division to deliver level, flow, and temperature measurement solutions for the nuclear power industry. In 1980, the company relocated its corporate and manufacturing headquarters to San Marcos, California, and opened its European sales and service center in the Netherlands in 1993. FCI is currently an AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer for industrial process and plant applications and the aviation industry.

Products

• Flow Switches: FCI flow switches detect, monitor, and alarm on flow of liquids and gasses. FCI’s electronic switches have no moving parts, allowing for high reliability and low maintenance, and can be used in almost any type of installation. FCI-manufactured flow switches are rated for outdoor installations and are globally approved for explosive and hazardous environments.
• Level Switches: This division includes level switches and interface switches that monitor point levels of liquids such as water, oil, and chemicals in industrial plants and processes. High-sensitivity switches can be specifically calibrated to detect interfaces between fluids, gasses, slurries, and foam.
• Mass Flow Meters: FCI’s thermal mass flow meters are used in air and gas flow management, measuring the relationship between flow rate and cooling effect to determine mass flow. Mass flow meters can output either standard analog signals, or digital bus communications.
• Flow Conditioners: FCI flow conditioners eliminate distortions that otherwise degrade instrument performance, ensuring proper and repeatable measurements.
• Aerospace Products: FCI’s aerospace division provides flow, level, temperature, and pressure measuring solutions for on-board aircraft components. FCI designs a broad range of sensors to reflect and answer the diverse requirements for measuring and sensing in different aircraft designs.
• Nuclear Products: This division includes all level, flow, and temperature solutions for the nuclear industry. FCI- products are rated for safety and balance in both BWR and PWR designs, and include flow switches and alarms, air and gas mass flow meters, level gauges, switches, and alarms, and spent fuel pool level/temperature meters.
