About American Eurocopter
American Eurocopter, now known as Airbus Helicopters, Inc., is a manufacturer of civil helicopters and subsidiary of Airbus Group, Inc. The company can be traced back to LTV Corporation, a now-defunct conglomerate that was involved in industries such as aerospace, commercial aviation, electronics, and others. In 1968, Vought Helicopter, a subsidiary of LTV, purchased a facility in Grand Prairie, Texas to operate out of. Vought Helicopter used this facility to sell Aerospatiale products to the North American market until 1974, when Aerospatiale bought out Vought and changed the company’s name to Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation. In 1992, Aerospatiale merged with DASA, a German aerospace manufacturer, to form the company Eurocopter. At this point, Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation became American Eurocopter. The company was renamed Airbus Helicopters, Inc. in 2014 and currently employs nearly 800 people throughout its various offices, facilities, and service centers.
