About Vishay

Vishay was first established in 1962 by its founder Dr. Felix Zandman, and the company initially produced foil resistors and foil resistance strain gauges. Over their first years, Vishay began to develop new products, and they soon found success with their bulk metal resistor which proved popular in the defense industry. Their resistors allowed for pilots to cut down the time needed for navigational electronics to warm up and weapons guidance systems also saw increases in accuracy. Due to these improvements, they quickly gained clients across multiple countries who wanted their products. By the 1970’s, the company began expanding into foreign countries, as well as went public. The 1980’s also proved to be successful years for Vishay as they had become the leading manufacturer of resistors and strain gauges, as well as began acquiring more businesses. In the 1990’s, Vishay entered the inductor market with new acquisitions, and then soon began to grow their market to encompass multiple sectors. During this time, they saw continued expansion and increases of sales contributing to their growing success. In the late 1990’s, the company conducted a major restructuring to become a major worldwide organization. Up to the present, Vishay has seen more acquisitions of businesses to develop their portfolio, as well as more success in sales.
