About Unison Industries

Unison Industries is based in Jacksonville, Florida and operates in the design, manufacture, and integration of electrical and mechanical components and systems for aircraft engines and airframes. The company began in 1980 when entrepreneur Frederick Sontag acquired Slick Electro, an Illinois based piston aircraft ignition manufacturer. Sontag reestablished the company as Unison Industries, and the company began acquiring businesses as they expanded. In 1988, Unison Industries released the world’s first solid state turbine ignition system. Throughout the 90s, Unison grew their product range and introduced dedicated alternators and solid state exciters among other products. By the end of the century, the company had begun to expand internationally, opening a manufacturing facility in Mexico. In 2002, Unison was acquired by GE and became a wholly-owned subsidiary. Two years later, Unison was merged with Elano Corporation and has since continued to expand and develop new products.

• Thermal Management: Unison offers heat management solutions with unique surface heat exchangers that include integrated fins rather than the typical brazed design, making it lighter in weight, and less constrictive of airflow compared to traditional radiator-type coolers.
